The Upgrade Playbook — How LeVotre Members Get the Better Room

Two guests check into the same hotel on the same evening. One is shown to a room overlooking the service road; the other opens the door to a corner suite with the view. The difference is almost never the rate they paid. It is a handful of quiet moves made before arrival — the same moves our concierge makes for members.

Book the room below the one you want

Upgrades move you one category, rarely three. Reserve the highest room you would happily sleep in, and the upgrade becomes a pleasure instead of a rescue.

Write before you arrive

A short note, sent 48 hours ahead: the occasion, your arrival time, a quiet floor, a pillow preference. Hotels assign their best rooms days in advance, not at the desk. This is the note our concierge sends for members before every stay.

Arrive at the gracious hour

Checking in between two and four in the afternoon gives the front desk real inventory to work with. Arrive at midnight, and you receive whatever is left.

Ask for something specific

"A high floor, away from the lifts, with morning light" is a request a desk can grant. "Something nicer" is not.

Book direct, even once

A direct booking places your name in the hotel's own system; a third-party reservation arrives as a number. One direct stay often earns more goodwill than a year of points.

Be the guest they remember

Learn the concierge's name. Mention what delighted you. Hotels keep notes on guests, too — and gracious guests find the late checkout and the better table waiting next time.

None of this costs more than the room you already booked. It is simply travelling as if the hotel is expecting you — because, handled properly, it is.
